When designing a home it is necessary that you follow the 7 principles of design. They are:
Proportion
Scale
Balance
Rhythm
Emphasis
Unity
Variety
PROPORTION Is it In or Out?
Proportion is the relationship in size of objects or parts of objects to one another and to the design as a whole.
Examples:
Rugs
Windows
Picture Frames
Chest of Drawers
SCALE 'EM RIGHT!
Scale refers to how the size of an object or a space relates to human beings and to other objects or spaces in a design.
Examples:
An office chair is not scale with the desk.
In a small den, an oversized coffee table in front of a loveseat would be out of scale.
Human Scale
The human scale is using the human figure in evaluating their scale because homes and furniture are built for humans
Lack of appropriate scale can cause both physical and visual discomfort.
Example:
Pictures and mirrors should be at eye level if not, then it will detract from the design and make if difficult for people to enjoy and see.
Is It BALANCE?..
