Neurons are responsible for receiving, transmitting, and processing information in our bodies so that we can experience the world around us. They are small, short, and thin, although some are long, and even can be up to 3 ft. long. We have 100-150 billion neurons in our body. There are different kinds of neurons. Receptor or sensory neurons are sensitive to stimulation. For example, they are what allow us to see some bright lights when we have a blow to the head. The motor neurons connect to the muscles in our bodies. Inter neurons are in between the receptor and motor neurons transporting information from one to the other. An example of how they all work together is, if you stick a pen in your hand that alerts the receptor neuron which tells the inter neuron to tell the motor neuron to move you hand...
