Korean mythology has many different theories and rules, although most of it is based on the Taoist theory. The Taoist theory consists of The Um (Yin in Chinese) and Yang and the five elements. These have a profound influence on medicine, art, philosophy, food, housing and numerous legends.
The main theory of Korean mythology is Um and Yang. Um represents the negative or passive, earth, the moon, cold, wet, female, the elements Fire, Earth and Metal, and so on. Yang represents the positive or assertive, sky, sun, warm, dry, male, the elements Water and Wood, and so on.
The two forces, Um and Yang, work together to create the five elements, Water, Fire, Metal, Wood, and Earth. The five elements are known as abstract forces and symbols of matter rather than real substances.
