     Contrary to popular belief, every golf club in a golfer’s bag has a different function and use that is much more complex to the uneducated eye. Golf clubs can be used as taught and in a conventional way, or individual clubs can be used in the specific needs of the player. Another common way to classify clubs in a bag is by the look and way the club is constructed. Whether a professional, a club pro, an instructor, or just a “weekend warrior” there is a universal classification all golfers follow for the clubs in their bag. No matter how a golfer may use his or her clubs, because of their uses they are easily classified into individual uses.

WOODS

     Though no longer made of actual wood, these clubs are classified by the distance the ball travels when hit and by the size of the head. ...
