The story of Jack M. (An excerpt from the Manhattan Spirit), tells a story of a man who admits consistently of manipulating women into believing that he was a nice, understanding, and compassionate man. In the story Jack M. admits to, " I would use empathy, understanding, humor, even my deepest secrets to get them on my side. I would show that I was a sensitive guy and use that for the sole purpose of bedding them". This admittance to acting different to meet girls does not constitute a rapist, every man can agree that he has done this do "pick up" a woman. Jack M.'s particular story is a the gray area of what encompasses rape. Rape is a very broad crime, questions must be asked such as, "did she say no or tell the person to stop?" or "did in anyway the rape victim fight back?..
