Abstract
The current nursing shortage has many health care facilities focusing on retention. One area that helps retention is to provide a better working environment for the nurses? Recently there has been a great deal of focus on the nurse-physician relationship. Nurses want to be seen as professionals and treated with respect. Nurses are part of the health care team, which includes physicians. Nurses and physicians must improve their working relations to ensure this is not a cause for dissatisfaction in the work place that causes nurse to look elsewhere.
