The Father-Son Relationship
Dr, Lazaro is a successful country doctor, yet unfortunately, he feels as though it is his duty to help others, no longer does he have the extreme compassion, which he once had for his job. When Dr. Lazaro was younger, he was a firm believer of God. His desire to help people was most probably the reason as to why he became a doctor. At first he had performed his duty with the utmost determination and intensity. Yet when he witnessed all of the suffering that his patients endured, it became unbearable for him. He felt as if his efforts were useless. He then realizes that his desire to help others makes him feel an unnecessary deep sorrow. It is due to this reason that he becomes emotionally detached from everything, thus not having to experience pain, nor fear it...
