Australia is located in the southern hemisphere south west of South Asia. Australia is a unique land for various reasons, Australia's animals are unique themselves, Australia's surface is also unique, Australia's population and distribution of the population is also unique Australia has unique weather, Australia also has a unique coast and lastly Australia's unique plant life.
Thousands of years ago the island continent of Australia separated from the super continent Gondwana. So its animals evolved in isolation from the rest of the world into a unique and wonderful fauna. Australia has the largest variety of animal species and two out of the three monotremes are found in Australia the platypus and the echidna. Marsupials are the most successful group in Australia. This group includes kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, Tasmanian wolves, Tasmanian devils, wombats, and many others.
Australia's surface is unique for a number of reasons. Firstly the eastern and southern coast is mountainous while the rest of Australia is basically flat.
