Drugs In America
Good Afternoon have you ever wondered why the laws for some drug possessions are a little lenient? Listen to my speech and all of your questions will be answered. America has had to fight many battles, but one battle that has been going on for many years is the battles to end drugs. Drugs were always around since the 1700s, but didn't become popular until the late 50s early 60s during the free love movement. During there sixties there was a lot of unprotected sex and drug usage, the most common drugs used were crack and marijuana. In the 60s and 70s drugs were only thought to have been used by the middle and upper class Americans because that's how it was portrayed in the media. The one drug that was thought of as a street drug was crack, because it was affordable and cheap. Many stares in the past years have died of drugs such as famous musician Jimmy Hendrix and famous comedian Chris Farley. Surprisingly musicians and actors were know for takings drugs, in the 60s, 70s, and 80s you could never go a day without hearing about someone either dying of and overdose or checking into the local rehab clinic. Since then the drug problem has been getting bigger and bigger, more people were dying because of drugs...
