The religion of Hinduism was a very hard religion for me to grasp. I assume it’s their eastern way of thinking that makes it so hard for me to understand. The idea of karma and the Hindu stages of life were easy to take hold of, however the beliefs in moksha and karma would have to be the hardest for me to fully understand. The actual religion of Hinduism had no identifiable founder. Documentation of the first Hindu’s would have to be with the Indus people. They had sophisticated sewer systems, city planning, and bathrooms in every house. They had mysteriously vanished around 1600 B.C. Some speculate it was unusual climate conditions, and some say they disappeared due to wars with the Aryas. The Aryas had control over the Indus valley from that point on, but their heritage of religion and culture faded in and out up until around 500 B.C.E. when Hinduism became the dominant religion. Hinduism has many Gods, but one Brahma. Brahma is whom I perceived to be my equivalent of God. Hinduism’s higher power, or as they would call it, “Brahman”, is that it cannot be described in words, cause if you were able to then that’s not it.
