Teen Dating Violence
Some people may mistake teen dating violence as simple arguing and fighting. Dating violence is when one of the partners uses some sort of controlling behavior to get control over their partner.
Some of theses behaviors are:
any kind of physical violenc or even a threat of physical violence
emotional or mental abuse (playing mind games, etc.)
sexual abuse
Teen dating abuse is just as serious as regular adult domestic violence. Research shows that abuse (either physical or sexual) is part of 1 in 3 high school relationships. Also, 95% of abuse victims are women being abused by men. However, men can be victims of dating abuse also. Teens who are homosexual, bisexual, or transsexual are just as much at risk for dating violence as heterosexual teens.
Abusive relationships go through a cycle.
