Gender Equality In Sports
The basic mistake most people make when talking about gender is they refer it to "sex" i.e. the biological difference between men and women. Whereas gender refers to the different social roles that men and women come across in a cultural context. So then what is the meaning of gender equality? Does it mean men and women are the same? Achieving equality doesn't mean men and women are the same, it means that one's rights or opportunities shouldn't depend on being female or male (Gender equality, 1).
It is certain that boys and girls display different types of behavior from early childhood on. In the field of sports boys tend to be more aggressive and competitive whereas girls usually are soft and accommodating (America Now, 2). It is true that both boys and girls want to end up winning, but they both take up different paths in trying to do so...
