"This is an annual affair and each year we step up our environmental activities during the week starting February 28. Not only is this the ideal time to plant, but also, this period is highly symbolic," said Qassim Sultan, Director General of the civic body who along with a host of senior officials threw open the Al Towar 3 Park earlier this week allowing the residents in the Towar neighbourhood to enjoy 4.7 hectares of engineered greenery.
After a careful study of the various neighbourhoods in the Emirate, four locations were decided upon by the Municipality over a year ago. These were selected on the basis of the population that lives in and around the area, he said.
