"Fashion is how you present yourself" once said a famous actress. As long as fashion has been in existence, what you wear is what you are. Most social scientist take it for granted that an individual's clothing expresses meaning. They accept the old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" and will generally concede that dress and ornament are elements in a communication system. A person's attire can indicate either conformity or resistance in their behavior. So the way you dress puts you in different categories of the way you're supposed to act. Fashion is a non-verbal communication with the rest of the world, through which you can express your personality, your social status, and your idea.
