Quincy Jones, born March 14, 1933, leads an interesting and impressive life as a music icon, and successful entrepreneur. Many see the name as a personification of the pop industry. As a composer, arranger, producer, and entertainment exclusive, Jones's work has totaled him an outstanding 70 Grammy nominations, 25 Grammy Awards, and a prestigious Grammy Legends Award in 1991 for lifetime achievement. In the history of American popular music, Jones is one of the most successful black entrepreneurs. The industry credits Jones for breaking down racial obstacles which may have had an objecting effect on many black entrepreneurs in popular music.
He was born in Chicago, and raised in Seattle, Washington. As a youth, Jones developed an interest in music and from his interest he inherited the trumpet. As years went on and Jones became a teenager, he began to arrange music professionally. His first project was from a band he formed with famous musician Ray Charles.
