What are the Blues? The Blues is a musical art form with many different interesting characteristics. The music conveys the feelings of repression, despair and desolation that the field workers of America endured. The nature of a true blues artist is determined by more than the hardship or loss he has experienced. The blues is a tool to help the poor man get by to see better days. It reflects the artist’s ability to find a solution to the despair in their life. Blues music has very strong spiritual roots, and consequently the feelings that are evoked when listening to the music, are often very strong emotional ones.
