The objective of our experiment is to measure the absorption and reflection of different wavelength of light. In order for us to do this experiment, we must use a spectrophotometer. This instrument is use to measure the amount of light absorbed and transmitted by a dissolved chemical. How a spectrophotometer works is that it shines a known and specific wavelength of light in a solution and measure how much light it absorbed. However, in order for us to perform this experiment we must know the parts and functions a spectrophotometer, which consists of.
Wavelength- controls the wavelength in nm.
Light control- controls the amount of light to pass.
Zero control- Adjusts the indicator to zero with a blank.
Absorbance transmittance meter- indicates the absorbance.
