I was raised in a small town and was asked to make a big step going into my 6th grade year. We moved towns all together, but not to a big town just a bigger one than I had ever known. As difficult as it may have seemed at the time, little did I know that I had a greater challenge heading my way just after my 8th grade year. Yet again I was being asked to make another change, but the fear of change was nothing compared to what I was able to learn about myself and how I was able to walk away from the situation realizing that I, as a person, would grow from the situation.
Moving from my small childhood home of Homer to a reasonably larger town of Palmer was tough for me because I was leaving everything I had ever known for the first 12 years of my life. I was having to leave my friends, my home, and my whole comfort zone was being tampered with, but all in all my parents thought it would be for the best. I went into middle school with out a single friend, surrounded by people who had grown up together. Fortunately for me, my outgoing personality carried me through and I made some of the best friendships I had ever known. Middle school flew by and my parents had been right, it had absolutely been for the best. The opportunities that were presented to me were far greater than any I would have ever been able to experience in a small town like Homer...
