Larry Cook is about to split the farm between his 3 daughters Ginny, Rose, and Caroline. Caroline is Larry's favorite daughter, but I have the feeling that she really doesn't want to farm. She wants to be exactly what she is--a lawyer. She tells her father "I don't know" about getting a share of the farm. He tells her she is out of the deal. Then the inner life of Ginny begins. You find out that she has had 5 miscarriages and that her husband barely talks to her. She seems unhappy, but accepting of her lot in life because she is a farmer's wife.
