Primary purpose: In reading the State of the Union speech I feel that the speech was trying to persuade the people in to reelecting a person who knows they did wrong but will not admit it. The speech does not seem to really tell anything to me it seems like he is trying more to defend him self.Secondary purpose: To get the people of the government to rally around him so he won't look bad in the international community.
Audience: His target was the everyday people or at least that's who he was trying to reach. He would refer to us in the speech numerous amounts of times even when it seemed like he didn't mean the common man he still would use us.
The various audiences I guess would expect to gain knowledge about the lies that were told to the people of America by the administration and want to know that our economy is going to be ok.
They seed to be in to the speech they applauded him after every intermission.
The Economy: The argument that is being presented is the one of that the economy is improving and that the economy can't make it unless we start to spend more, more people get employed more small business get started and how tax relief plan is giving us more money back now. I agree with the point that he is making because we need to make our own economy better that's why we have to start our own future and build off it.
Pathos: He discussed the War how we need to stick together as a country treating investors equally in the tax laws and he wants to make it seem like the administration is getting tough on big business...
