PATHOLOGY
Breast cancer is a disease that affects thousands and thousands of women every year around the world. In order to detect breast cancer women must be in tune with their bodies and aware of changes in their breasts. When in the early stages of breast cancer there is often no pain or detectable symptoms. The number one symptom of breast cancer is a lump in the breast or the underarm. Breast size or texture of the skin on the breast may change. The nipple may become inverted and unusually tender, also there may be abnormal discharge. Breast cancer begins in the cells of the ducts and the lobes of the breast. This disease, if detected in the early stages, has a very good chance of being cured. If undergoing treatment for breast cancer, such as drugs, radiation or chemotherapy, life can be uncomfortable. One consequence of having breast cancer is the possibility of losing a breast, but reconstructive surgery is always an option...
