A learning style is developed when an individual experiences an event, and from this event the brain processes the information to form a pattern. Depending upon the learning style, the individual may primarily use their left or right side of the brain to process the information which form the patterns that become a person’s learning style. In today’s school system teachers primarily use the observe and think method of learning which for some learning styles are an advantage but for others it is a disadvantage. To be a well rounded student teachers should familiarize their students with all learning styles. The 4MAT learning style system groups learning styles into four categories types one, two, three and four. In the article the author describes each learning style and how each type performs in an observe and think method of learning. The type one learner is an imaginative student who favors feeling and reflecting. (Reference) These individuals are content with their emotions and exceptional observers.
