There has been a general controversy over which plays the major role in individual's personality and development, nature or nurture? Some people assume that nature plays the major role, believing that good genes from parents are most important thing to the formation of personality and individual's development. However, as far as I am concerned, it's nurture that plays the major role in individual's personality and development.
Admittedly, good genes including intelligence, patience, confidence and leadership etc. inherited from parents are significant factors to the growth of one person. However, some recent survey has shown that it is absolutely not the factor which can determine the individual's personality and development. For example, LiuBei, one of the greatest Kings in Chinese history, was full of intelligence, whereas his son called LiuAdou was a fool and incapable. There are many other cases which can prove that intelligent parents are not bound to have clever children. Thus, it seems that the genes do not play crucial parts in people's personalities and development.
Secondly, I'm convinced that the personality and individual's development can be influenced by other people around them such as parents and teachers...
