The 1996 film, Hamlet, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh and produced by David Barron was done exceptionally well. Kenneth Branagh's film is nearly a replica of William Shakespeare's original play. The cast was made up of Kenneth Branagh as Hamlet; Richard Briers as Polonius, Nicholas Farrell as Horatio, Julie Christie as Gertrude, Derek Jacobi as Claudius, Micheal Maloney as Laertes, Kate Winslet as Ophelia, and Rufus Suwell as Fortinbras. The film made it easy for the viewer to understand the play, through the cast, props, lighting, and sound. Even though there are many great elements put into the film, some of the elements were lacking in accuracy, such as the time period of the setting and clothing. Through the elements of the film, Branagh created a terrific film that comes to life.
The film is about the conflicts encountered by Hamlet as he tries to avenge the death of his father. Hamlet is angered with the murder of his father and the quick marriage between his uncle and mother. These conflicts create hamlet's bitterness towards his life, as well as everyone else's.
