The Book I read for my independent novel was a book call the Three Musketeers, written by Alexandre Dumas. This book is about the adventures of four gentlemen, musketeers in the kings' service, who risk their lives countless times for their king, their queen, love, and for themselves. Even though the novel was long, it was filled with elaborate schemes and thrilling adventures that made it interesting and easy to read.
The beginning of the book begins with the main character, d'Artagnan, leaving his fathers home to head for Paris to become a Musketeer, even though he was not yet 20 years old. In his first day there, he angers 3 musketeers, and is required to duel each one. It just so happened that these three men became his three best friends, Aramis, Porthos, and Athos. As the story unfolds, d'Artagnan and his friends find themselves in countless battles with countless people. At one point in the story they have to go to London to retrieve some diamond studs that the queen had given to her lover, the Duke of Buckingham. They also had their romantic experiences, which interfered with their duty to the king. In the long run, these four companions had a long and hard, but interesting, adventure...
