"Perception is the process by which people select, organize, interpret, retrieve, and respond to information from the world around them." (Schermerhorn, 2002) Do children have a negative perception of females or gender bias? Where does gender bias begin? How old do you have to be to experience this?
"It is not the difference in gender which get us in trouble, it's the perceptions. Society says to view men and women differently." (Podmolik, 1993) Women seem to still be two steps behind a man in today's society. One set of standards is for men and still another is for women. This bias begins occurring in the home and in schools as part of a society habit then unfortunately ends up in the workplace.
