The Odyssey is a poem about Odysseus and his journey home after a war. On his journey home, he is faced with many problems and obstacles that he must overcome. With all his heart, he just wants to make it home and see his wife, Penelope and his son, Telemachus. Odysseus later finds out, that his kingdom has suitors, wanting his wife's hand in marriage. When Odysseus returns home, Athena the God of war and wisdom, changes his appearance to an old beggar, so that the suitors would not notice him. With the help of the shepards, and his son, Odysseus kills the suitors, and is reunited with his wife. The author, Homer, ties all these together in a great way. The Odyssey is a classic piece of literature for three major reasons.
