Peer Pressure: Knowing What Is the Right Thing To Do
The leaves of fall in 1980 is just starting to change in a suburb of Chicago called
Rockford. A slight cool breeze is coming from the north, letting everyone know that
winter was on its way. The sky was over cast, but that is not unusual for an October day.
It was a Saturday afternoon and just like all kids in my neighborhood, it was time to
adventure out and find some excitement before it became too dark to play. I walked from
my yard over to Tim's house where he and Dave, a stocky muscular boy, was shooting
basketballs in the driveway. We all shot some basketballs at the hoop, but that only
entertained us for a short time. Tim suggested we go over to Christina's. The peer
pressure of having to go with them even if I did not want to go is a challenge to every
young man's life. On our way to Christina's we saw Brad, a blonde hair boy that couldn't
have weighed more then the clothes he was wearing, coming down the street. He asked
us where we were going...
