First computer that made it to the desktop was the IBM PC.
Consisted of a 8088 cpu running at 4.77mhz with 128k of memory. 1979

The reason it was so successful was because of a killer app. Lotus 1-2-3. (1981) It was a DOS based spreadsheet. It revolutionized the way businesses were run.
8086 was the update which had a 16bit data and 20 bit address bus. 1978 This was designed before the 8088 but was held back due to mobo complications
The next generation of cpu's was the 80286 processor. It had a 12bit data bus and a 20 bit address bus...
