Introduction
Change affects every aspect of life; taking a proactive approach to change is the only way to take charge of the future, as an organization. In corporate settings change is unavoidable. Dealing with change can be difficult but to ensure a smooth transition, several steps can help to promote a successful result. These steps include planning, implementing, coping and consolidating. How change is presented can promote either a positive or negative outcome.
Corporate
Many different types of change exist, but one that can affect the greatest amount of people is change in the corporate setting. One of the most common types of corporate change is reorganization. Reorganization can be an effective tool to help a corporation become more competitive, but can be detrimental if done too often. As Peter Cappelli states, "The constant churning caused by these reorganizations generates costs and develops cynicism about why they are done and what they mean" (Business Mexico, 2003). A key to successful reorganization is to make sure employees understand why the change is occurring and that they feel included in the reorganization process...
