Brad Johnson vs. Brett Favre Approaching one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, also known as the “Battle of the Bays”, the reigning Super Bowl Champions, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Green Bay Packers in a showdown of strategy and a battle between two of the most prominent quarterbacks in the National Football League. Brad Johnson, the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led his team to a national championship in January of 2003. Although drafted only one year prior to Brad Johnson, Brett Favre, the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers led his team to a national championship in January of 1997, a mere five years after joining the league. These two quarterbacks having achieved the epitome of success in their professional football careers have followed much different paths throughout their high school, college, and professional play. However, many similarities exist between Johnson and Favre that have equally attributed to each one’s success. James Bradley Johnson born September 13, 1968 in Marietta, Georgia played as an All American quarterback at Owen High School in Black Mountain, North Carolina. He was also an All State basketball player, and was a high school teammate of former NBA center Brad Dougherty. His much success in athletics began here, as he lettered four times in both football and basketball, eventually given the honor of having his high school stadium renamed “Brad Johnson Stadium” in 2003.
