Hate Crimes and There Effect on Today's Society
In nineteen ninety one alone, over forty-five hundred-hate crimes occurred in just thirty-two states alone. The rates of crimes of this sort continue to rise every day. What is a hate crime? A hate crime is when someone uses verbal or physical violence against someone based solely on his or her race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity or gender. The purpose of this report is to examine the origins of a hate crime, why they occur, and the effects they have on today's society.
Why hate crimes occur is because of the simple fact of socialization. People are socialized into hating others. They are not born with hatred for others already embedded into their minds. Examples of this are groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, where new born babies are initiated into the group and raised to believe, "No tears for queers!" and "Niggers prey on children"(geosites)...
