I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed; we hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal." Martin Luther King Jr., once spoke those wise words on August 28, 1963 on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. He started an era that fought for equal rights for blacks. We are reminded daily that African Americans are still not totally looked upon as equal to the white man. Recently, I found out how different it can be, by looking at the situations through a black mans eyes. I gained this knowledge through the story, "Black Man and Public Space" written by, Brent staples. This story opened up my eyes a lot more about stereotypes, especially the ones on black people.
Why should a person have to suffer their whole life just because of the color of their skin?..
