Diabetes
My desire is that each of you leaves here more knowledgeable about one of the leading causes of death and disabilities in the United States today. Most of you are familiar with the term Diabetes, however most of you are not familiar with the implication of the disease. My objective is to inform you of the seriousness of Diabetes, by answering the following question; What is Diabetes? What are the different diagnoses? How does diabetes impact our society? Who is at risk?
What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a disorder of ones metabolism or the way the body digests food for energy and growth, a condition resulting form insulin deficiency. It disturbs carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism.
