Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in America because of what they do differently than their competition to succeed. In Rogers, Arkansas in 1972 Sam Walton and his brothers opened the doors to what would soon become the largest corporation in America. The very first Wal-Mart, a store that focused on selling name brands at low prices everyday. Soon a chain of Wal-Mart stores began to appear across the country. Due to Walton's style of management he became very popular among employees, drowning out the complaints of those who felt Wal-Mart was devouring the mom and pop stores across America. By the early 90's, Wal-Mart was said to be the largest retailer in United States. Within the next year Wal-Mart began to explore the international market by opening a store in Mexico City. Within 5 years Wal-Mart was introduced to countries such as Puerto Rico, Argentina, Brazil, and China.
