Three critical facts used by author to support main idea:
In Self-managed team conflict is inevitable and has many causes.
I strongly agree with the author's opinion on this. Conflict is natural results of people working together. Conflict develops because we are dealing with people's lives, jobs, children, pride, self-concept, ego and sense of mission or purpose.
Everyone at some point has to deal with other people, we will, sooner or later, have to deal with conflict. Having a process to deal with conflict like the ones the author points to in his article "Conflict Resolution flow chart" is amazingly a positive approach to deal with conflict in a self managed team. The processes that start with management team member's differences are the right approach in dealing with conflicts and handle it effectively.
Conflict can be destructive and can be constructive. In the article "Conflict neither good nor bad"
The Author says " many people and organizations view conflict as an activity that is usually negative and should be avoided, conflict is natural results of people working together" I do agree with the author on his opinion. Conflict can be very destructive when it:
Take attention away from other important problems and issues
When we undermines morale or self-concept
Polarizes people and groups, reduce cooperation
Increases or sharpens differences
Leads to irresponsible and harmful behavior, such as fighting, name-calling...
