Let The Light Shine
As we move forward through time there comes points where we become aware of the need of more light. ... In the middle of the summer the light just never seems to fade, and light is still evident on the clearest of nights. Coming from a rural area in Ohio, a place not overtaken by streetlamps and the glow of buildings off in the distance, it is almost astonishing how a full moon can light up the world. ... But, the stories I heard of the winter were depressing and the natives long for the light they haven’t seen in days or even weeks.
Light is vitally important to everything that lives; yet there are plants, animals, and humans that feel it, but are never truly aware of the light. In the Gospel of Luke 11:33 it reads “No one lights a lamp and then puts it in a cellar or under a bushel basket, but rather on a lamp stand so that those who come in can see the light. ... The full text from Luke 11:33-36 reads “No one lights a lamp and then puts it in a cellar or under a bushel basket, but rather on a lamp stand so that those who come in can see the light. ... When your eye is clear, your whole body is flooded with light. ... Take care, then, that the light within you is not darkness. If then your whole body is flooded with light, and no corner of it is in darkness, it will be completely illuminated as when a lamp’s rays engulf you.”
Luke uses this same idea only worded differently earlier in his text at 8:16-17 by saying “No one lights a lamp and covers it with a pot or puts it under a bed; rather one puts it on a lamp stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
