Bang & Olufsen Case External Environment International – B&O and the consumer electronic industry posed crisis from two international events. Firstly, the worldwide stock market crash of 1987. Secondly, and mainly, the Gulf War crisis of August 1990 – March 1991 which B&O reported DKK74 million loss for the fiscal year ending May 31, 1991. Sociocultural/Demographic – B&O sold their products worldwide and approximately 77% of sales were sold outside of Denmark. Also, its products were very attractive for those who have high value on lifestyle. Those customers who would buy its products were people who have somewhat a high income because its product price were relatively high compared to their competitors. Legal/Political – Do not have anything Economic – B&O’s sales were extremely sensitive to business cycles and to foreign exchange economic and transaction exposures.
