The Amazing Vikings
Vikings are thought of as violent raiders. But, according to a Time magazine article by Michael D. Lemonick, "They earned their brutal reputation-but the Norse were also craftsmen, explorers, and believers in democracy." They were also traders, farmers, metalworkers and jewelry makers. The Vikings still have a reputation as vicious terrorists. But, archeologists have made discoveries showing that the Norse were highly skilled and intelligent people.
The achievements of the Viking culture have been known for some time now. But now, with archaeological excavations in Europe, Iceland, Greenland, and Canada, there is more specific details. The National Museum of Natural History in Washington opened an exhibition called "Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga".
