Two Thousand Seasons Prologue Two Thousand Seasons, written by Ayi Kwei Armah, is a novel that traces the history of a people from their origin to the hopes of their future. It represents an African epic that sums up the African experience for two thousand seasons. In the prologue, Armah shows that the ways of the Africans may have led to their demise. He reveals in detail that it is in the nature of our people to give, while the nature of the conquerors was to take.Say it is the nature of the spring to give; it is the nature of the desert’s sand to take.......it is the nature of your given water to flow; it is the nature of the desert to absorb. The theme is that of a prominent people who, due to their nature, are lured to destruction. Chapter 1: The Way Armah describes the way as the true way of our people, not the way introduced to us.
