My Experience in Writing

When I was very young, my family members read to me as often as I would sit still and listen. I became a very strong reader at a young age. Because I read so much, spelling became one of my strongest assets, and I began to understand sentence structure. I remember reading Dr. Seuss books and being enthralled by the word combinations and the rhymes. As I grew older and grew away from children's books, I began reading classic works of literature. In the fifth grade, for example, when I read A Tale of Two Cities, the development of the characters and the complexity of the plot intrigued me. I tried to mimic the styles of the authors I read by adding description and details to my own writing. My teachers encouraged me to read because they knew that, I, by reading good works, would have the potential to develop good writing skills.
When I have been given the opportunity to write fictional work, I have truly enjoyed the experience...
