  The U.S. food system is safe for both the consumer and the environment, because of the massive amount of rules and regulations regarding the safety of food. Through different governmental groups the government tries to minimize any possibility that the public or the environment encounter any harm, because of chemicals used in the food industry. The U.S. food system is made up of the FDA, the EPA, and the USDA; between these three agencies of the government food safety is heavily monitored and inspected.
       The FDA, food and drug administration is in charge of making sure that non- animal foods, such as plants, grains and processed foods are safe for human consumption. In order to ensure that these foods are safe the FDA has a variety of responsibilities when it comes to the food industry.
