Set upon this backdrop is a wonderful present day rendition of William Shakespeare's timeless classic Romeo and Juliet.
In this prosperous world of hate, rival gangs and warring households, Romeo (DiCaprio) and Juliet (Danes) are ignited by the fanaticism of forbidden love and Verona Beach erupts.
The movie shows us the life of two lovers who are caught between feuding crime families. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet, theoretically archrivals to one another. Our star-crossed lovers first lay eyes on each other from opposite sides of an aquarium, when Romeo and several other members of the Montague household gatecrash a Capulet party. From this point onwards we are swept away as their loves evolves.
Leonardo DiCaprio was a superb Romeo, with his romantic compassion and smooth delivery of Shakespeare's language. Clare Danes was brilliant, beautiful and sharp-witted, and the perfect partner to DiCaprio...
