The poem Half-Caste was written by John Agard. John Agard writes the poem as one half of an argument. He expresses his feelings in a humorous and challenging way. The poet writes the poem with a humorous edge because it helps him to express his feelings in a more powerful and excepted way. The poet is very mocking towards the reader but does this in a humours way. He is trying to show the reader how silly the term half-caste is. At the start of the poem the poet apologises, he does this in a sarcastic way and is not being serious, he is trying to make the reader see things from his point of view. John Agard wants the reader to know how he feels and he uses many different images to compare the term half cast to several objects found in day to day life.
