Tricia Halsema Rel 333 22 October 2003 Gandhi the Movie This paper will discuss the life of Mahagma Gandhi based on the movie “Gandhi.” This paper will explain how life was as a Hindu, and how people were treated differently due to prejudice. This paper will discuss life-altering changes for people of India. The movie starts with the assassination of Mahgma Gandhi. A man shoots him. Gandhi is carried on a platform through the streets of India. Thousands of people are lined on the streets throwing flowers at him. Gandhi was an attorney in 1893. While riding a train on his way to South Africa, he was discriminated against due to his color. The train conductor told Gandhi he needed to move from where he was sitting due to being a Hindu. Gandhi explained who he was, however due to the color of his skin; he was thrown off the train. As he was being thrown of the train Gandhi said “I am a child of God, like everyone else.” The British Empire required all Hindu, Muslims, and Sechs to carry a passport book. This pass was government property. Gandhi was taking a stand against this unfair treatment. Anyone who took part of this protest was beaten.
