All humans have the greatest power of all to take one's own life away by committing suicide. When one meets a challenge that he or she thinks is impossible to overcome, they look for a way out of the misery that they are in and think of themselves as hopeless. Suicide is a way of accepting defeat and overcoming the fear that haunts the mind and body. Hamlet was faced with a difficult situation that made him think about whether or not it was worth living through. Yet, he was deceptive because his closest friends, his mother, his uncle, and his girlfriend had no idea that he was seriously considering killing himself. He was able to do this through the many faces that he put on.
Throughout the play, Hamlet has been extremely faithful and polite to his mother, Queen Gertrude, despite the fact that she married only two months after her husband's murder. In Act 1, Scene 2, the Queen says, "Let not thy mother lose her prayers, Hamlet. I pray thee stay with us, go not to Wittenberg." Hamlet replies, "I shall in all my best obey you, madam...
