1998-99 Scarlett graduate, Dany Heatley, an up-and-coming superstar of the National Hockey League has been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons of late. He has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide after being involved in an accident last week, which led to the death of teammate and friend, Dan Snyder. Snyder died the night of October 5th, six days after sustaining massive brain injuries in the crash.
Fortunately, Heatley was allowed attend Snyder's funeral along with the rest of his team. Heatley?s Attorney Ed Garland said that after having to deal with the loss of a friend and teammate, Heatley has become "an emotional wreck". The crash took place just a short distance away from Heatley?s home where they had both been living.
The vehicular homicide charge has a possible jail time of three to fifteen years if found guilty. However, it is possible for the charge to be brought down with a plea bargain to second-degree vehicular homicide, a misdemeanour...
