Should gays and lesbians be allowed to marry in the same way that straight couples do? Many Americans have not thought about this issue until President Bush himself introduced a constitutional ban on gay marriages in the US House of Representatives.
The practice of homosexuality is a violation of the religious faith American society is based on. We have a responsibility to be sympathetic to our fellow human beings, but extending to homosexual couples the special privileges of the traditional family would undermine the sanctity of the family. President Bush says marriage should be defined as the union between a man and a woman. He says government lawyers are working on a law to accomplish that definition. Same sex marriage is not wrong because the bible says so, but it also contradicts the meaning of marriage. What is marriage?..
