Many different ways of communicating exists that do not include speech. These are known as nonverbal means of communication. These forms of communication vary greatly from culture to culture. Most nonverbal forms of communication are body movements. The study of body movements is called kinesis. Kinesis behaviors include all type of body movements that are used to communicate. In the movie Dances with Wolves we see how the Indians use nonverbal communication different than Kevin Costner's character. We also see examples of the different components of nonverbal communication. These components that we see are emblems, illustrators, affect displays, regulators, adaptors, space/territory, touch and time.
