I have just completed reading a review of J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye." Upon completion, I have concluded that this book is about a young man's thoughts on the world and eventual mental downward spiral into a nervous breakdown. After reading the review I felt a little nervous about reading this book because it seems to have a dark theme to it. It seems that it is going to be depressing and end maybe in suicide or a total mental breakdown. One aspect I am looking forward to, is from the review, it seems that the book challenges us to think about society's attitude towards the human condition. It seems that the book really makes you look inside yourself and think bout your life and the aspect of emotional emptiness. Once again, like I said earlier, I am somewhat reserved about reading this because of the main character's bouts with depression and odd behavior. I hope this book doesn't leave me feeling sorry for the main character, after I am done reading it, or just simply leave me feeling sad...
